Request Mosquitofish
These little fish are hearty, hungry, and free to Collier County residents!
Have standing water in your yard?
Are swales filling with rainwater?
Have a non-working fountain full of standing water?
If so, mosquitoes will be laying their eggs in that standing water. We can help: Our tanks are full of hungry mosquitofish ready to gobble up mosquito larvae in the standing water around your home!
These Gambusia holbrooki from local freshwater canals are members of the guppy family and reach about 2″ in length — each one eats about 100 larvae daily. Where to use them? Flooded yards, swales, and borrow pits are perfect spots, as well as non-working fountains and pools. Have fish in your pond? Please let them do the job for you, and let the mosquitofish work where there aren’t other fish.

Caring For Your Mosquitofish
Slowly submerge the open container of fish into your water-filled area, ensuring that fish can easily swim out of the container.
If the fish exhaust the mosquito larvae supply in your waters, you can supplement their diet with tropical fish flakes to maintain a healthy population.
When the waters begin to recede, the fish may naturally find their way to other bodies of water. If not, you may choose to relocate them.
