We are an Independent Special District of the State of Florida consisting of a Board of five Commissioners elected for non-partisan seats to serve four-year terms. Monthly public meetings are conducted by the Board of Commissioners at the District headquarters.
The Collier Mosquito Control District Boards meets regularly to provide transparency and understanding about our processes and how we work to keep the community safe.
The District develops mosquito control plans using an integrated mosquito management (IMM) approach. IMM uses a combination of methods to prevent and control both nuisance mosquitoes and mosquitoes that spread viruses like dengue, West Nile, Zika, and others. These methods control mosquitoes based on an understanding of mosquito biology, the mosquito life cycle, and the way mosquitoes spread viruses.
